In connexion with your question, you may be interested to know
that Tony McEnery and I have just completed an introductory student
textbook on corpus linguistics, which will be published by Edinburgh
University Press sometime between May and July this year. This will
be the first of a whole series of corpus-based linguistics textbooks
("Edinburgh Textbooks in Empirical Linguistics"), for which we are also
the series editors. Geoffrey Barnbrook is also publishing a book in
this series, due out at around the same time, which will deal with the
practical hands-on aspects of working with a corpus and will complement
our own volume. Further volumes are already in preparation.
